Surreal Collage
A personal image archive built by taking familiar things somewhere unexpected.
I have always been drawn to the strange authority of printed ephemera, especially early American advertising. This ongoing series began as a way to work through an accumulating collection of licensed and royalty-free scans, textures, photographs, and clippings.
Each collage removes familiar imagery from its original purpose and gives it a new set of relationships. Scale slips, colors feel slightly off, and ordinary subjects occupy impossible spaces. The work borrows from the dream logic and visual tension of Surrealism while leaving room for instinct, humor, and accident.
Built primarily in Adobe Photoshop, the series is an ongoing exercise in composition, image manipulation, color, and visual storytelling without the boundaries of a client brief.
